美国图书馆（Library of America；LOA）是一家非营利性的美国经典文学出版商，1979年成立，启动资金来自国家人文基金会和福特基金會。它已经出版了300多部著作。[1]
历史沿革
[编辑]美国图书馆的构想最早由文学评论家爱德蒙・威尔逊在 20 世纪中叶提出，他希望建立一套权威、便携的美国文学经典丛书，对标法国七星文库（Bibliothèque de la Pléiade）的出版模式。1979 年，在国家人文基金会和福特基金会的资助下，美国图书馆正式成立，总部设在美国纽约市。[3]
成立初期，该机构以 “保存与传播美国文学遗产” 为核心使命，致力于将美国重要作家的作品以权威校勘本、统一装帧的形式系统出版，方便读者与研究者使用。
批评
[编辑]美国图书馆因选录内容可能有失偏颇而遭到批评[4][5]。其营销手段也被指过度商业化[6]。
图书馆联合创始人贾森·爱泼斯坦批评美国图书馆的财务状况不佳，还出版了一些完全没必要的作者作品。[7]
