Meta:Requests for CheckUser information

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki
Shortcut:
RfCU
This page allows you to request CheckUser information on Meta.
Procedure
  • Please read the CheckUser policy before asking for a check.
  • When adding new requests, please use the {{checkuser}} template to list the user names in question and {{checkip}} for IP addresses, which simplifies investigation.
  • List your request at the bottom of the "Requests for Meta-Wiki only" heading.
  • When asking for a check we need to know:
    • why do you believe that the accounts are related (please present evidence for that with the help of diffs, etc.),
    • why, if the accounts are related, they are being used abusively, in violation of policy; and
    • why a block or other measures can't be justified without the need of technical evidence.

See user's talk page, requesting CheckUser input for the unblock request. Just need a yes/no on whether this is clear from a technical perspective. EggRoll97 (talk) 03:51, 20 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think this justifies CU. If a Wikimedia chapter's employee claims to be affected by an IP block and there's no reason to question that (or to distrust them), we should just grant IPBE. Johannnes89 (talk) 05:46, 20 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Not done any IPBE request can justify a check, however this user doesn't appear to have any activity that was affected by the block, as they didn't even file their own unblock request - so the check would be useless. This is of course not addressing the underlying issue, and they will likely be back when they are hitting some global block next. notdone this based on there being a lack of activity to check. — xaosflux Talk 09:09, 20 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
