Hello. Half of the time I think in English, and as you can see I was in that half when writing this. If you want to contact me, leave a message on my talk page, or via Discord (username: friedrichhoelderlin). You can use Chinese or English, whichever you prefer.
I'm a PhD student in arithmetic geometry at the University of Reading; before that I completed a BSc Mathematics at Warwick (2024) and an MSc Pure Mathematics at Imperial College (2025). However, I mainly write about classical music and medieval history, with an aspiration to biographies of other creative people (which include mathematicians); so the above is just to tell you I'm academically trained and experienced. I joined Wikipedia in 2016 but only started actively editing in 2020. I wrote something (in Chinese) about the fundamental philosophy of being a Wikipedian, language of the encyclopaedia, translation, and the state of classical music related articles here on Chinese Wikipedia. Another essay I really like and keep going back to is the one by 靖天子. My ultimate ambition is to rewrite the article on Friedrich Hölderlin (remember my Discord username?) – perhaps in English first and then translate – with the goal of promoting it to an FA. Another reason I'm writing in English is that I admire the professionalism (a bit paradoxical since no one is editing Wikipedia by profession) constantly displayed within the English Wikipedia community, which I strive to bring here.
While you are here, have fun, and don't be a cunt. If you disagree, you probably already are one.
