MEROPS是一個關於蛋白酶（或稱為肽酶）及其抑制劑的在線網絡資料庫[2]。它對蛋白酶的分類方案由Rawlings & Barrett在1993年提出[3]，對蛋白抑制劑的由Rawlings et al.在2004年提出[4]。最新版本MEROPS 12.0於2017年9月發布[5]。
總覽
[編輯]分類基於三級的和一級的結構層面的相似性。比較僅限於直接參與反應的那部分序列，其在肽酶的情況下必須包含活性位點，並且對於蛋白質抑制劑而言為反應位點。分類是分層次的：序列被編組成家族（families），家族組成氏族（clans）。 每個肽酶，家族和氏族都有一個獨特的標識符。
