The Midnight是一支美国合成器浪潮乐队，由亚特兰大的唱作人Tyler Lyle和洛杉矶的丹麦制作人、词曲作者兼歌手Tim McEwan组成。[1]
该乐队的座右铭是“mono no aware”（物の哀れ），这是一个日语短语，大致可译为“一种怀旧的惆怅感和对万物无常的感悟”。[2]
乐队历史

[编辑]该乐队的成立源于Lyle和McEwan在2012年于北好莱坞的一个共同创作研讨会上的相遇[3][4]。部分受到电影《亡命驾驶》配乐以及与其发行同期兴起的复古合成器风格的启发，[4]两人创作了两首单曲“WeMoveForward”和“Gloria”。2014年，这两首单曲包含在他们的首张迷你专辑《Days of Thunder》中发行。[5]
2015-2018年
[编辑]2016年，二人发行了一张12首歌曲的LP专辑《Endless Summer》[6]。2017年，二人在Monstercat唱片公司发行了《The Midnight Remixed》。[7]
2017年8月。乐队发行了第二张录音室专辑《Nocturnal》[8]，该专辑在音乐发行网站Bandcamp上畅销数周，并于2017年10月登上Billboard舞曲/电子音乐排行榜第17位[9]。乐队随后于2017年11月在洛杉矶百老汇的环球剧院举行了他们的第二场售罄演唱会[10]。
乐队曾与另一位复古合成器音乐制作人Timecop1983多次合作。双方和作曲之一的《River of Darkness》被收录于专辑《Nocturnal》中。他们之间的另一次合作名为《Static》，收录于Timecop1983在2018年发行的专辑《Night Drive》中。[11][12]
2018-2020年
[编辑]The Midnight于2018年9月21日发行了他们的第三张录音室专辑《Kids》。这张专辑是其三部曲系列中的首部。[13]
2019年，Monstercat发行了专辑《The Midnight Remixed 02》[14]。McEwan还出现在纪录片《The Rise of the Synths》中，该片探讨了合成器浪潮流派的起源与发展。他与该领域的多位作曲家共同出镜，其中包括John Carpenter，后者亦在片中担任主角和旁白。[15]
在COVID-19大流行封锁初期，The Midnight举办了一场名为“Remix Radio”的混音比赛，并在其网站上免费提供了他们创作的多首歌曲的分轨。2020年4月3日，该比赛在YouTube上首次直播，时长一个半小时。[16][17]
2020年7月，The Midnight在Counter Records旗下发行了他们的第四张录音室专辑《Monsters》。该专辑被AllMusic列入2020年最佳专辑榜单[18]。这张专辑是他们上一张专辑《Kids》的主题延续，从一个青少年的视角讲述了青春期的亲密感与疏离感。[19]
2020-2023年
[编辑]2020年10月，The Midnight首次通过Amazon Music独家发行了他们的第二张EP《Horror Show》，该EP于2021年3月在所有平台上线。随后，他们于7月与Magik*Magik Orchestra合作发行EP《The Rearview Mirror》，其中收录了《Endless Summer》的管弦乐remix版本，以纪念该作品发行五周年。[20]
The Midnight于2022年9月发行了他们的第五张录音室专辑《Heroes》。这是三部曲的第三张也是最后一张专辑，其中收录的歌曲受到了华丽金属和重金属音乐的影响，特别是威豹乐队和Mutt Lange[21]。
乐队于2023年9月发行了他们的现场专辑《Red, White and Bruised: The Midnight Live》，其中收录了他们在“Heroes”巡演中的表演。[22]
2024年至今
[编辑]The Midnight乐队宣布，他们的首部图画小说《The Midnight: Shadows》将于2024年10月由黑马漫画发行。故事发生在该乐队的宇宙中，由作家Zack Kaplan与艺术家Stephen Thompson、Johnoy Lindsay和Thiago Rocha共同创作[23]。
2024年，乐队宣布McEwan将退出巡演，专注于制作新音乐[24]。而鼓手Kwesi Robinson加入，并在现场表演中接替McEwan。[25]
2024年9月，乐队凭借单曲《Chariot》首次亮相Ultra Records[26]。随后，他们于2025年2月推出第二首单曲《Love is an Ocean》，收录于即将发行的第六张录音室专辑中[27]。第三首单曲《Digital Dreams》于2025年5月30日发布[28]。《Chariot》亦被收录进Codemasters开发的赛车游戏《F1 25》的原声带，该游戏于同日发售。[29]
