The Midnight是一支美國合成器浪潮樂隊，由亞特蘭大的唱作人Tyler Lyle和洛杉磯的丹麥製作人、詞曲作者兼歌手Tim McEwan組成。[1]
該樂隊的座右銘是「mono no aware」（物の哀れ），這是一個日語短語，大致可譯為「一種懷舊的惆悵感和對萬物無常的感悟」。[2]
樂隊歷史

[編輯]該樂隊的成立源於Lyle和McEwan在2012年於北荷里活的一個共同創作研討會上的相遇[3][4]。部分受到電影《極速罪駕》配樂以及與其發行同期興起的復古合成器風格的啟發，[4]兩人創作了兩首單曲「WeMoveForward」和「Gloria」。2014年，這兩首單曲包含在他們的首張細碟《Days of Thunder》中發行。[5]
2015-2018年
[編輯]2016年，二人發行了一張12首歌曲的LP專輯《Endless Summer》[6]。2017年，二人在Monstercat唱片公司發行了《The Midnight Remixed》。[7]
2017年8月。樂隊發行了第二張錄音室專輯《Nocturnal》[8]，該專輯在音樂發行網站Bandcamp上暢銷數周，並於2017年10月登上Billboard舞曲/電子音樂排行榜第17位[9]。樂隊隨後於2017年11月在洛杉磯百老匯的環球劇院舉行了他們的第二場售罄演唱會[10]。
樂隊曾與另一位復古合成器音樂製作人Timecop1983多次合作。雙方和作曲之一的《River of Darkness》被收錄於專輯《Nocturnal》中。他們之間的另一次合作名為《Static》，收錄於Timecop1983在2018年發行的專輯《Night Drive》中。[11][12]
2018-2020年
[編輯]The Midnight於2018年9月21日發行了他們的第三張錄音室專輯《Kids》。這張專輯是其三部曲系列中的首部。[13]
2019年，Monstercat發行了專輯《The Midnight Remixed 02》[14]。McEwan還出現在紀錄片《The Rise of the Synths》中，該片探討了合成器浪潮流派的起源與發展。他與該領域的多位作曲家共同出鏡，其中包括John Carpenter，後者亦在片中擔任主角和旁白。[15]
在COVID-19大流行封鎖初期，The Midnight舉辦了一場名為「Remix Radio」的混音比賽，並在其網站上免費提供了他們創作的多首歌曲的分軌。2020年4月3日，該比賽在YouTube上首次直播，時長一個半小時。[16][17]
2020年7月，The Midnight在Counter Records旗下發行了他們的第四張錄音室專輯《Monsters》。該專輯被AllMusic列入2020年最佳專輯榜單[18]。這張專輯是他們上一張專輯《Kids》的主題延續，從一個青少年的視角講述了青春期的親密感與疏離感。[19]
2020-2023年
[編輯]2020年10月，The Midnight首次通過Amazon Music獨家發行了他們的第二張EP《Horror Show》，該EP於2021年3月在所有平台上線。隨後，他們於7月與Magik*Magik Orchestra合作發行EP《The Rearview Mirror》，其中收錄了《Endless Summer》的管弦樂remix版本，以紀念該作品發行五周年。[20]
The Midnight於2022年9月發行了他們的第五張錄音室專輯《Heroes》。這是三部曲的第三張也是最後一張專輯，其中收錄的歌曲受到了華麗金屬和重金屬音樂的影響，特別是Def Leppard和Mutt Lange[21]。
樂隊於2023年9月發行了他們的現場專輯《Red, White and Bruised: The Midnight Live》，其中收錄了他們在「Heroes」巡演中的表演。[22]
2024年至今
[編輯]The Midnight樂隊宣布，他們的首部圖畫小說《The Midnight: Shadows》將於2024年10月由黑馬漫畫發行。故事發生在該樂隊的宇宙中，由作家Zack Kaplan與藝術家Stephen Thompson、Johnoy Lindsay和Thiago Rocha共同創作[23]。
2024年，樂隊宣布McEwan將退出巡演，專注於製作新音樂[24]。而鼓手Kwesi Robinson加入，並在現場表演中接替McEwan。[25]
2024年9月，樂隊憑藉單曲《Chariot》首次亮相Ultra Records[26]。隨後，他們於2025年2月推出第二首單曲《Love is an Ocean》，收錄於即將發行的第六張錄音室專輯中[27]。第三首單曲《Digital Dreams》於2025年5月30日發布[28]。《Chariot》亦被收錄進Codemasters開發的賽車遊戲《F1 25》的原聲大碟，該遊戲於同日發售。[29]
